Some Interesting Facts: In my research, I found out some things about the 1920's and the Great Depression that I would not have learned in class! 1. The board game "Monopoly", which first became available in 1935, became immensely popular in the 30's. Maybe this was due to the fact that players of the game could become rich—at least in their imagination.2. While the Great Depression affected most of the country, up to 40% of the country never faced real hardship from 1930 to 1939.3. The Wall Street Crash of 1929 was one of the main causes of the Great Depression. “Black Thursday,” “Black Monday,” and “Black Tuesday” are all correct terms to describe the Crash because the initial crash occurred over several days. Tuesday, October 29th, had been the most devastating.
